How can Good Governance Support Resource-Oriented Sanitation in Germany??

In January, our partners at Copenhagen Business School and ICLEI Europe hosted a highly successful online workshop that explored how good governance can support resource-oriented sanitation in Germany. Key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, including representatives from NetSan e.V., the City of Leipzig, Leibniz Universität Hannover, the Hamburg allotment gardening community, and our partner VunaNexus AG, gathered to discuss the legal barriers and opportunities for public sector support for source separation.

One of the key positive findings from the workshop was the openness of German farmers to the use of recycled fertilizers, signaling a promising potential for integrating resource-oriented sanitation practices into agricultural practices.

This workshop plays a vital role in the development of guidelines for local and regional governments, aimed at promoting the adoption of resource-oriented sanitation. It also contributes to formulating policy recommendations for both national and EU governments, ultimately fostering more sustainable practices across the region. 🌍🌿
