European Commission calls for experts to join the Zero Pollution Platform

The European Commission has launched a new call to join the Zero Pollution Stakeholder Platform, inviting experts to contribute to Europe’s transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Strengthening action towards zero pollution:

The Zero Pollution Stakeholder Platform was initially established in 2021 to support the implementation of the Zero Pollution Action Plan, launched in the same year. It brings together stakeholders and experts of different policy areas, fostering co-ownership and promoting collaboration to achieve the zero pollution ambition.

The renewed Platform will play a key role through active stakeholder engagement. Following its recent mid-term review, the need to intensify efforts and accelerate progress has been emphasised, particularly in addressing pollution related to nature, air, water, soil, waste, and chemicals.

The Platform will contribute to overcome barriers to zero pollution, promote knowledge exchange and best practices, highlight effective solutions and innovations, and strengthen international cooperation. By doing so, it will complement existing expert groups and initiatives by encouraging integrated approaches to prevent and reduce air, water, and soil pollution, while supporting a competitive and sustainable Europe. Furthermore, it will facilitate the exchange of good practices on cross-cutting topics such as financing innovation and jobs, and advancing sustainable production.

Who can apply?

This call is opened to organisations with experiences in areas such as:

  • Pollution prevention and control
  • Pollution governance and implementation
  • Financing, investing and infrastructure
  • Research, innovation and digitalisation

Selected applicants will be expected to contribute to the development of a three-year work programme, subject to annual review; to participate in biannual meetings; and to provide expertise and advice in support of the implementation of the EU Water Resilience Strategy.

Applications must be sent to ENV-ZERO-POLLUTION@ec.europa.eu by 5 May 2026.
