The P2GreeN project is excited to announce its upcoming online workshop, “Circular Sanitation – Why and how can cities and regions close nutrient loops?”, taking place on 24 October 2025, from 10:30 to 12:00 CET, as part of the European Week of Regions and Cities (EURegionsWeek) 2025 “Close to You” sessions.
Hosted as an interactive online session, the workshop will explore how circular sanitation can help cities and regions recover valuable nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus, reduce pollution, and create sustainable local economies. Participants will gain insights into policies and practical actions that make circular sanitation a reality across Europe.
What are nutrient cycles? Why are they crucial for the health, environment, and economy of our cities and regions? What are the issues with the current sanitation system?
In this interactive session, experts and practitioners will introduce the concept of circular sanitation and show the concrete benefits of closing nitrogen and phosphorus loops. Drawing on examples from across Europe, the workshop will highlight policies and real-life actions that local and regional authorities can implement to achieve circular sanitation.
The session will be interactive and solution-oriented, building on the results of the P2GreeN project, funded by Horizon Europe.
When: 24 October 2025, 10:30–12:00 CET
