P2GreeN, is holding its Final Conference, “Advancing Circular Sanitation from Demonstration to Market Uptake”, on 7 October 2026, at the BIP Meeting Centre in Brussels, Belgium. The event is open to press and media representatives and will bring together policymakers, researchers and practitioners to hear the latest results, success stories and policy recommendations from across Europe’s leading circular sanitation initiative.

Over four years, P2GreeN has validated its approach across three pilot regions: urine diversion at source to produce a nutrient-rich pellet fertiliser for barley in Gotland, Sweden; collection and thermophilic composting of dry toilet contents alongside a urine-based liquid fertiliser for rye and barley production in the North German Plain, Germany; and decentralised municipal wastewater treatment feeding a smart fertigation system for mango and avocado trees in La Axarquía, Spain. Four follower regions; Hungary, Italy, France and Greece, are now exploring how to replicate these models locally.

At the conference, the project will present validated results on the safety and viability of these bio-based fertilisers, circular business model blueprints, and governance and regulatory frameworks designed to help scale nutrient recycling solutions across Europe.

At the heart of the day will be the “P2GreeN Corner”, a dedicated networking space where the project will showcase results from its three pilot regions. But the Corner isn’t just for P2GreeN: a limited number of slots are now open to other projects working in the biocircular economy, nutrient recovery, and circular sanitation space who want to exhibit a poster presenting their own valid and meaningful results.
